Enough Blame Enough circus’s in Congress. Instead o throwing muck around get to work and assure that public money is used exactly as expected. Remember that business is not the only one who thinks they are “Entitled”. Congress votes them a pay increase and wastes money at every opportunity while not “Protecting the People”. Think about: • Bad drugs • Contaminated Food. • Dangerous Roads and Bridges. • Banking Rules. • Insurance Rules • Investment Rules • Usury Interest on Credit Cards. Etc. In the meanwhile , no Joy rides around the world. No special deals for Congress that is not available to all. Every time Congress votes or takes special privileges for themselves they lose respect. Remember business Boards are doing the same as Congress when they vote their own compensation. You may not be taking as much, but it a matter of quantity. A small sin not a large one. Remember when you do things, You are not entitled !

I have complied a similar site. www.nobailout.wetpaint.com has 3 goals.
1. The A-Z of the economic crisis. Where did it start? How did it get out of control? Why did Congress ignore academia when they said the bail out WONT work? 2. Once we have isolated the culprits, list them. Get economic experts "ideal plan" to fix the economy. (And I mean experts OUT SIDE of Wall St., K St, and Washington. 3. Organize national protests in HUGE #'s BEFORE they spend anymore $. We maybe has 6 weeks before the 2nd $350 Billion is spent. I don't trust Obama on this one (even though I woked to elect him) based off his actions over the last six weeks.
It's time to take back our future! Evvie

The problem is that banks that were detached from the process of actually approving the mortgages were taking on the risk of the mortgage payments. The creditworthiness of a mortgage and the handling of a mortgage are intrinsically local issues. You need to know how housing values are changing in the neighborhood. How likely the borrower is to keep a steady flow of income. You need to be able to talk to the borrower to deal with difficulty in making payments. One huge issue is that neither borrower nor lender know who each other are. Making a multi-trillion-dollar institution responsible for dealing with these little micro issues will not make this communication and adjustment more effective. The government should deal with institutions that have at least billions of dollars of assets. Banks with hundreds of billions of dollars of assets per "branch" (investment banks) should deal with companies and other banks that have at least a few tens of millions of assets. Banks with tens of millions of dollars of assets per branch should be dealing with individual people. It's just a matter of scale. You can't have millions of investments in a single fund. Bunch them up into banks that investment banks can then invest in _directly_, not via buying collections or derivatives on the investments.

If Wall Street collapses, jobs will evaporate (it's already started), and the people who suffer worst will be the most vulnerable - the middle class and poor folks. So lets not get so caught up in our anger at the greedy bastards who caused this problem that we shoot ourselves in the foot. Make no mistake about it, if Wall Street goes down, it will be Main Street that provides the cushion for its landing. The rich can live with less; the poor cannot. Hold your nose if you must, but don't be fools and let the economy collapse around us. We will all pay dearly if it does.

Nationalize the banks (per London, Belgium, etc., actions today). Don't buy bad debt with our tax money, but take assets for the people. Regulate banking, investment. Get rid of hedge funds and all theoretical wealth (alpha, etc.), get rid of bundling, derivatives and short selling, and all of the crappy paper wealth that in reality is casino glitz having no reality to real wealth. Do not go with mark to market bogus balance sheets, lowering still further capital gains, or any of the other fantastical schemes the "free-market" freaks are selling. Fund development of new industries like alternative fuels. Restructure to avoid foreclosures. That's it for now.

http://blog.heritage.org/2008/09/20/text-of-the-bailout-legislation/
Sect 4 speaks of a 'reporting requirement' to Ways & Means - but apparently this is intended purely as a token brochure upon which no action may be taken or questions asked:
'Sec. 8. Review.
Decisions by the Secretary pursuant to the authority of this Act are non-reviewable and committed to agency discretion, and may not be reviewed by any court of law or any administrative agency.'
Make no mistake, this is a blatantly unconstitutional power grab - effectively a financial coups d'etats-unis - wallpapering over the articulated separation of powers (USC Art.I,2 & 3). Simply proposing it may be & certainly voting for it in this form is an impeachable offense for any public official. http://www.votenobailout.org/
